Have you heard of Reiki and wondered what it was and how it could be of benefit to you or someone in your family?
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing my first Reiki session with a wonderful Reiki practitioner and beautiful human, Clare Wyatt from Heart & Light Reiki and Holistic Health Services.
In this article I will provide you with a little background information on the healing that Clare provided me with, then I will provide you with a description of the incredible session. A most transformative experience and one that I encourage you to try for yourself.
Clare is a Reiki Practitioner and Crystal Healer specialising in healing women, teenagers and children from her gorgeous studio in Wellington Point, and also in Bulimba.
Clare has been a Reiki healer for over 14 years. She strives to both educate and heal her clients, empowering them to live better and healthier lives.
If you’re unfamiliar with Reiki, here’s a short description in Clare’s words…
REI-KI (pronounced Ray - Key) is a system of natural healing which involves the laying of hands. It is believed that the technique was first used by Tibetan Buddhist Monks and was re-discovered over one hundred years ago by Mikao Usui. The Usui System of Reiki is a very simple but powerful healing technique that is easily given and received by anyone.
Reiki is a holistic healing - it heals on all levels.... Mind, Body and Spirit.
Everyone is unique so each individual's experience will be unique to them too. Reiki is a non-invasive healing, which works alongside Western and Eastern medicines. In most cases the least you will feel after a Reiki treatment is relaxed and peaceful.

Relaxed and peaceful is certainly an understatement, let me start from the beginning.
I arrived at Clare’s studio on a gloomy Friday afternoon. It was overcast and grey outside. As soon as I walked into Clare’s Wellington Point studio I felt a sense of calm come over me. Clare keeps the studio dark with a lot of candle light and it almost feels like you are entering some sort of serenity cave.
Clare greeted me with a warm and friendly smile and a big-hearted demeanor. She was calm, reassuring and exuding positive energy.
Before we began the session, Clare and I sat down at the table for a chat. I completed a form, discussed my past experiences with Reiki and she explained exactly what would happen in the session and answered any questions that I had.
Then we moved into the healing room which was a gorgeous combination of white and pink furniture and accessories. There were crystals, salt lamps and of course a bed to lie on with a warm snuggly blanket. Clare scanned my body to begin with so she had a sense of what was happening in my body, then I lay down on the bed. Clare covered me up with the blanket, covered my eyes and even added a weighted eye pillow, which was divine.
I swear I felt calmer already. Just being in this calm space away from the hustle and bustle of the world - work, kids, traffic, screens… it was bliss.
What happened next is a bit of a blur. At times I was thinking, at times I was asleep and dreaming, I’m sure I was meditating at some point - even though I didn’t know that I knew how to do that.
Clare just went about her healing, moving around my body, ever so gently placing her hands on certain chakra points.
If you’d asked me before this session what the most relaxing thing you could ever do was, I would have replied ‘massage’, but after this experience I would say that a Reiki session with Clare even tops that!
The best part about it was that my mind switched off. Clare’s Reiki enabled me to stop the hamster wheel that’s always going around in my head and just be still, relaxed and mindful.
At the end of the session Clare used a special feather to stimulate the flow of Ki further by smoothing the aura from head to toe.
Next she used a gorgeous cleansing spray from Bathe Therapy to cleanse my aura and clear any negative energies.
Then I sat up and Clare told me all about her experience of the session.
I won’t go into all the details about what she told me but it was utterly fascinating. She had information about my physical body - for example my feet needed some more love… that one made me laugh. But she also had messages for me, guidance and encouragement about my life. It was quite remarkable and amazingly insightful
It was really fun unpacking all the things that she said and dreaming about what all this means for me both in the present time and in the future.
Clare explained to me that every Reiki session is different. It’s a very intuitive practice and Clare will go into a meditative state and use her intuition to guide her where to go and what to do at each point of the body.
I left that session feeling relaxed, peaceful and positive. This feeling lasted for the rest of the day and into the next. It was an incredible experience and one that I look forward to repeating again very soon.
